West Hills Farm Pty Ltd operates the largest carrot operation in Western Australia encompassing growing, harvesting, packing and distribution to both domestic and export markets.
We are looking for Agricultural Technicians to work as part of team on our 4000 acre carrot operation 15 minutes North East of Lancelin. The successful candidates will be required to perform the following task:
•Examining physical and soil characteristics of the farm to identify nutrient deficiencies;
•Assisting in developing new methods of planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing crops to achieve optimum land usage;
•Identifying pathogenic micro-organisms and insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops and assisting in devising methods of control;
•Analysing produce to set and maintain standards of quality;
•Assisting in controlled experiments to develop improved crop;
•Collecting and collating data for research;
•Plan watering schedules;
•Plan harvesting and other aspects of production processes;
•Ensure the monitoring and recording of environmental data. Detail and implement strategies for the maintenance of micro climates conducive to optimum crop production.
•Ensure safe handling use and storage of chemicals at all farm levels.
•Liaise with farm personnel and ensure the accurate implementation of agronomic procedures.
•Develop and up keep of various data e.g. crop records, yields, trials.
•Training of other team members, where required, in growing of crops;
•Ensure regulatory compliance
The successful applicant must:
•Have the necessary qualifications;
•Previous experience (at least 2 years) is essential;
•Be able to work unsupervised;
•Be able to manage and teach team members;
•Be highly organised;
•Be motivated;
•Be able to work as part of a team;
•Be willing to live in / around the area of Lancelin.
These are full time positions with an expected remuneration in the range of $70,000 to $80,000 per annum depending on previous experience and qualifications.
