Preferred Skills

• Experience in a livestock industry environment is highly desirable.
• The proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills while working within a team.
• This role will involve livestock handling duties in quarantine or on-farm when required to support the operations team.

The successful applicant will have:

• To work closely with the team to maximise the performance of your activities and that of the division;
• Advising the operation team and sourcing on ASEL(Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock) and ensuring compliance to ASEL
• Capturing and studying updates on protocols and ASEL, analysing the influences of the updates on business, advising the operation team on updates of protocol and making transition plans 
• Liaising with both the Australian government and the Chinese government regarding various issues, e.g. operational compliance, approval of quarantines, etc.
• Advising quarantine/feedlot managers and ship’s stockman/AAV on techniques for improving the performance of cattle during quarantine and voyage
• Advising quarantine and feedlot managers on treatments of animal diseases, e.g. Pink eye, ringworm, lame, bloat. 
• To collect and analyse data and samples of hay, feed, grain, soil and other factors affecting production;
• To study climate and environmental factors that are affecting commercial hay production and grain production;
• To investigate, plan and implement management procedures to cope with the effects of fires, floods, droughts, soil erosion, insect pests and diseases;
• Check all paperwork received at the Registered Establishment for animals being delivered to Quarantine (including truck disinfectant declarations, NVD’s and PVD’s) match the animals and number of animals delivered by truck and by vendor, and for the full consignment, to ensure that documentation has been completed correctly
• To advise farmers on techniques for solving agricultural problems and improving efficiency of production, such as crop yield;
• To correspond with clients to identify and evaluate their business and technical requirements;
• To liaise with supply chain managers to evaluate the logistical costs of supplying feed products to clients;
• To attend meetings, seminars, classes, farm demonstrations and group sessions. 
• To liase with our Chinese selectors and partners during farm visits.
• Translate and interpret communications between Chinese Selectors and Officials, and English-speaking staff & key stakeholders are quarantine and/or meetings and/or events.

 Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
