CQ Rescue has been providing essential life-saving aeromedical, disaster relief, and Search and Rescue helicopter services to the Central Queensland community for over 25 years. As one of the busiest rescue helicopters in Queensland, our community-funded service plays a pivotal role in providing peace of mind to people living, working and visiting this region.
CQ Rescue has recently taken delivery of 2 Leonardo AW139 helicopters equipped for aeromedical and Search and Rescue operations. The helicopters will commence operations in July 2024.
To support CQ Rescue’s exciting transition to AW139 operations, we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced AW139 Aircrew Instructor to conduct Aircrew and Medical Crew training and checking duties, as well as fulfilling line Aircrew Officer duties.
The Aircrew Instructor will be a Brisbane-based touring role, with a salary range of $140,900 to $146,070 plus daily travel allowance and salary packaging up to $15,900 per year.
When conducting training and checking duties, the Aircrew Instructor will be required to coordinate and deliver training courses and assessment activities in accordance with the company’s training and checking procedures.
When conducting line duties, the Aircrew Instructor will work both day and night duty periods to support our 24/7 operations and will be required to conduct medical transport and Search and Rescue operations throughout the Central Queensland region. Occasional travel within Queensland and interstate may be required to support operations and to attend training courses.
To ensure that our operations are conducted safely, effectively, and reliably, we require experienced candidates of the highest caliber, with proven technical and non-technical skills conducting similarly complex flight operations in a multi-crew environment.
As a minimum, candidates will require the following qualifications and experience:
- Certificate IV in Aviation (Air Crew Officer)
- CASR Part 67 medical certificate, Class 2
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, or equivalent formal training qualification
- Advanced resuscitation and first aid qualifications
- Bronze Medallion lifesaving qualification
- Substantial experience in medical transport and Search and Rescue helicopter operations
- Experience as an Aircrew Instructor on AW139 helicopters
Additional prerequisites:
- Australian Citizenship, Residency, or approved work Visa
- Physically able to manage the manual handling requirements associated with the role, including but not limited to, assisting with aircraft role equipment configuration, aircraft husbandry duties, handling of patient stretchers and medical equipment
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements of role, including strong swimming ability and sufficient physical strength and fitness to perform rescue crew duties
- Ability to pass and maintain company medical and fitness assessments and standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with previous experience working successfully in a small multi-disciplinary team environment
