The Aviation Capability Group is experiencing significant growth and we are seeking experienced Aircrew Officers looking for their next challenge to support our Helicopter Pilots in Cairns. You will utilise your flight experience working as an effective team member within the aircraft whilst conducting primary rescues, secondary interhospital transfers and counter disaster work alongside frontline Queensland Government services.   • Assist the pilot to carry out all aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other government support duties.
  • Undertake training and skills upgrading as directed by the Senior Aircrew Officer, Base Manager and Senior Manager.
  • Ensure the Captain is promptly advised on all matters affecting the safety, serviceability or effectiveness of the aircraft or the operation.
  • Carry out all duties and training in accordance with the QGAir Rotary Wing Operations Manual.
  • Assist in ensuring that all flight and task documentation is accurately completed and that all crews are adequately briefed and de briefed on any deficiencies promptly addressed.
  • Undertake and support operational duties during emergencies and disasters as necessary.
Mandatory requirements:Flight Hours
  • Qualified Helicopter Aircrew Officer with at least 500 hours logged Aircrew Officer rotary wing hours and operational winching experience including night winching or 1000 hours EMS experience.
Certifications & Documentation
  • CASA Aviation Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Previously held a Bronze Medallion Surf Life Saving qualification or Certificate II in Public Safety/Aquatic Rescue.
  • Current Senior First Aid
  • Advanced Resuscitation/CPR Certificate
  • Winch and Rappel Competency Certificate
  • Certificate IV Aviation - Aircrew Officer
Highly Desirable Requirements:Endorsements & Training
  • AW 139 Aircrew Officer Endorsement/Qualification
  • Front Left Hand Seat Cockpit Qualified
  • Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
  • Helicopter Aircrew Breathing Device (HABD) Training
  • Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) Training
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness Training
  • Previous SAR/EMS experience
Flight Hours Requirements
  • 100 hours NVIS experience
Special ConditionsApplicants must pass the Aircrew Officer Physical Fitness test comprising of:
1. 400m swim in under 10 minutes; and either of the following options
2. Completion of the Rockport Fitness Walk Test (1.6km walk) with the minimum standard being a ‘Good' assessment on the Rockport calculator (www.exrx.net/Calculators/Rockport.html); or
