Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 Project aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

About the Role
Reporting to the Specialist – Aerodrome, you will be primarily responsible for the supervision of and participation in Aerodrome operations and ensuring maintained compliance with regulatory requirements in accordance with CASA and other relevant government legislation, as well as local operating procedures including the Aerodrome Manual suite of documents. The role requires an individual with the highest degree of time management and multi-tasking ability.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Fulfil roles of Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) and Works Safety Officer (WSO) in line with the requirements of Civil Aviation Safety Regulations
- Apply technical skills in line with ARO & WSO duties as prescribed in CASA MOS 139 and the Aerodrome Manual (e.g. serviceability checks, fuel quality checks, AWS checks and maintenance, wildlife hazard management activities, writing and maintaining MOWPs)
- Responsible for regular reviewing and updating of relevant airport documents
- Ensure the Aerodrome’s ongoing operational compliance with relevant company, airline and CASA regulatory requirements, standards and practices
- Responsible for conducting airside inspections and tests to assess compliance with legislation, processes and procedural documents, and ensure any deficiencies are reported and addressed
- Supervision, mentoring, training and upskilling of other AROs and Aerodrome staff
- Supervision and participation in flight line and terminal operations, including but not limited to passenger services and ramp functions, and refueling
About You
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Recent experience in Airport Supervisory or management roles, overseeing Aerodrome operations and supervision of staff, preferably in remote regional locations
- Sound working knowledge of Civil Aviation rules and regulations pertaining to a wide range of airport work duties (e.g. Part 139 MOS, Aerodrome Manual, SMS, AEP, WHMP, DAMP)
- High regard for Aviation safety programs, policies and procedures
- Ability to implement and follow procedures and systems
- Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Adobe, Avantik etc.
- Demonstrated ability in conducting documentation review and development
- Highly organised with the ability to multi-task, plan ahead, prioritise and monitor activities
- Current and recent Aviation refuelling experience (preferably Viva trained)
- Aerodrome grounds maintenance experience e.g. slashing and pavement rolling
- Team player, prepared to perform any reasonable task in order to support the Aerodrome Manager, other Airport staff and Airport operations
- Able to perform physical activities relevant to the position
Qualifications:
- Current Aerodrome Reporting Officer Skill Set (AVISS00053)
- Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC)
- Current Airport Ground Handling training and competencies on F70, F100 & E190 aircraft
- Alliance approved Ground Handler trainer
