About the Division / Team
Our Interstate network is responsible for the management of approximately 6,000km of track and servicing a broad range of supply chains. The team comprises more than 500 staff and 24 provisioning centres and depots, which continue to deliver major corridor maintenance works and projects across the country to increase the efficiency and capacity of Australia’s rail network.
About the Opportunity
Responsible for the system operation, reliability and accuracy of track condition monitoring equipment.
The position will involve a combination of regular travel and office based responsibilities with the ability for flexibility of location.
Operate and maintain in a serviceable and reliable condition track geometry condition monitoring and measurement equipment
Used specialised and application software to obtain field measurements
Prior to the commencement of recording runs, plan, co-ordinate and negotiate paths and schedules with Train Control staff to ensure that goals are met
Ensure measuring equipment is maintained when required to meet set work programs
During the course of runs, liaise with drivers and train control to ensure that the operation of the train meets the recording requirements
Assist in the timely distribution and archiving of all data, reports, and videos from the AK Car
Maintain databases and libraries of the data produced from the AK Car
Assist with the training of maintainers and other users of track condition monitoring data in the use and interpretation of rail and track geometry measurement system outputs
Arrange, monitor, and record all servicing, repairs and maintenance of the machines and measuring equipment, including the sourcing of spare parts as required
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
Experience in operating and maintaining equipment
Ability to learn, master and apply new skills, techniques and systems
Knowledge and experience in the use of computers in a technical application
Ability to work as an effective member of a team
Possess a sound mechanical aptitude
Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Drivers Licence – Class C
