About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients within Alcohol and Drug Services. The St Vincent's Alcohol and Drug Contact Centre operates a number of statewide telephone and online services for people who use alcohol or other drugs. This position is expected to work within a strengths-based and harm-minimisation framework and deliver high quality person-centred drug and alcohol counselling, including bio-psychosocial assessments, evidence-based brief interventions, health education and advice, and referrals to external agencies.

Selection Criteria:
Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in nursing, counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
Demonstrated relevant clinical Alcohol and Drug experience including assessment, brief intervention and counselling of clients with substance use problems and co-existing mental health issues.
Demonstrated understanding of contemporary approaches to Alcohol and Drug treatment, including harm reduction, person-centred and strengths-based approaches.
Ability to identify clients' specific needs and provide the appropriate assessments, interventions and approaches for an effective solution.
Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills (including via telephone and typing), including a minimum typing speed of 40 WPM.
High level computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and previous experience with electronic patient record systems.
Highly developed interpersonal skills.
