Help lead major mental health reform in Victoria to ensure that everyone is supported.

In this role you will be part of the launch of one of the first of 60 Mental Health Locals in Victoria.

This is an amazing opportunity to shape the future of peer and community-led mental health services.

This local support is a key recommendation of the recent Royal Commission into Victoria’s mental health system and promises to make our community a better place to live.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local

Wellways, Mentis Assist and Peninsula Health are working together to provide mental health and wellbeing supports in Frankston to ensure everyone can access treatment and care closer to home.

The new Frankston Mental Health Local will provide welcoming and inclusive support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health challenges, including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug addiction treatment and care needs.
We are working with the local community and people who have a personal experience of mental health issues and recovery to build these services so they are the best they can be. Our services will be led by lived experience and coproduced with the local community so they are the best they can be.

About the role

The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Project Lead role sits within The Frankston Adult and Older Adult Local Mental Health and Wellbeing Service . You will be supporting the establishment of this service to implement the principles and expectations of Integrated Practice when supporting people with co-occurring mental illness and substance use or addiction and their families and supporters.

This position aims to drive change and build collective ownership and responsibility for integrated practice, incorporating the principles and expectations into existing policies, plans, models of care and processes, and developing staged implementation plans by which programs and services become more integrated care capable, aligned with the principles and expectations of the Guidance.

About you

  • Minimum Certificate IV qualification in a social science or related discipline RPN 4 or Allied Health 3
  • Experience in the human services or related sector including individual and community development

Requirements

  • Specialist experience and knowledge regarding service delivery in AOD.
  • Demonstrate experience working with at-risk and vulnerable people with AOD concerns.
  • Well-developed written, verbal, interpersonal and computer literacy and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Current Working with Child Check and current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
