We will:-
- support, train and develop you to become a confident and knowledgeable therapy assistant to deliver therapy programs for our clients
- work with you to grow your areas of interest and build your knowledge in areas you may not have had the opportunity to explore.
- provide a supportive administrative, and management team to ensure you have help when needed for any aspect of the role.
- provide casual hours for each semester that can work around your study needs
- provide opportunities for a pathway into your first job working as a speech pathologist for suitable and interested candidates once you graduate. This is a great way to train and develop in the organisation you start your career in.
Who are we?
- We are a multidisciplinary clinic servicing the Nepean-Blue Mountains region. Our OT and SP team work closely together to provide integrated care.
- Belinda, our clinical director has worked as a speech pathologist for 30 years in numerous sectors throughout her career. In addition to her clinical work she has been involved with clinical education, university teaching and leadership in SPA, the national SP association. She thoroughly understands the skills and needs of those pursuing an Allied Health career.
- We invest and provide up to date intervention resources and we have a purpose built gym which provides an area to work with clients who require movement, motor and sensory considerations.
- We offer in clinic and telehealth services where suitable.
- We provide full time administration support to enable staff to focus on clinical activity
- We value Allied Health Assistants in supporting our clients while building the future of our workforce.
- We provide weekly learning activities for staff to build clinical knowledge and skills.
- Staff are provided with a weekly schedule that is predictable and balanced with clinical, professional development, support and administrative time.
When can you start?
You can commence in June/July 2024.
What does the role involve?
- delivering therapy programs to children and young people in the clinic under the instruction of the Clinical Director.
- working across speech, language, and literacy domains for speech programs.
- working with clients receiving services under the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) in addition to privately funded clients
- documenting client activity on prepared templates using our digital practice management software
- working with our Allied Health team
What do you need?
- be studying Speech Pathology at university and be in year 3/4 or second year of your Masters in 2024.
- be passionate about helping clients and their families to develop capacity to be an active member of the communities they participate in
- Police Check for paid employment
- Working with Children Check
- Effective and positive interpersonal skills
- Proven ethical and professional qualities
- A high level of independent organisational skills
- The ability to work effectively in a team
- Willingness to take on new experiences and challenges
