Our Residential Aged Care Home (RACH) Group Program was developed to support residents with mental health and wellbeing, including creating social connections, and developing coping skills. The in-reach service provides a stepped-care approach, has been operating for nearly a year, and is offered across the West Moreton and Darling Downs region.
The program is designed to offer brief interventions of 6 to 10 sessions and is all delivered in-person.
Your Opportunity
We are looking for an Allied Health Professional to join our team to deliver low intensity mental health and psychosocial interventions to promote the wellbeing of elderly residents. This full-time position can be based either at our Toowoomba or Ipswich office and includes travel across the region – this could be up to three days per week – but there is flexibility to structure your own working week. This is a stand-alone position, working closely with four Group Facilitators.
The salary for this role is $102,534 to $107,079 plus Superannuation and Salary Packaging up to $15,900 per year. You’ll also have use of a company pool vehicle while travelling.
What We Are Looking For
Whether you are a recent graduate, or have an established career, you will be passionate about improving the wellbeing of elderly residents by providing tailored evidence-based therapeutic interventions via in-person sessions.
You’ll also have the opportunity to integrate your clinical skills with research initiatives, utilising your findings to inform and improve the care provided within Residential Aged Care facilities.
Your skills and attributes will include:
- Providing assessment to evaluate mental health status and cognitive function
- Knowledge of evidence-based intervention and establishing outcome measures
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to address various audiences including residents, staff, and caregivers
- A genuine interest in increasing mental health literacy in the older population
- Being flexible and able to re-evaluate your priorities of the day – you’ll be a self-managing self-starter who loves a varying routine
- Having a positive attitude to change - the program is still under development, and we are constantly making adjustments and improvements
- Being a team player – you’ll be part of a small multidisciplinary team who collaborate, share ideas, and support each other
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you’ll need to be comfortable working with residents who have memory loss and other cognitive impairments
You’ll also hold a relevant qualification in psychology, be AHPRA registered or other appropriately qualified allied mental Health Professional such as accredited mental health occupational therapist, accredited mental health social worker, or mental health nurse, and have a current Australian Driver’s licence.
But most important to us is that you share our values – you’ll love working with talented people who are humble, human, and full of hope. We’re dedicated to helping others, no matter how difficult or complex the challenge – and we walk our talk.
