Who are St Pats?
St Patrick’s Community Support Centre (St Pat’s) is committed to working in partnership with other agencies to support individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in obtaining stable accommodation, independence, and improved quality of life. We provide a range of services to support them on this journey, including emergency relief and meals, health and mental health services, drug and alcohol services, life skills training and a range of accommodation options.
About the Role
This position will report to the Tenancy Services Manager who is responsible for leading a large team to make allocations to social and affordable housing vacancies. The role will also include administrative functions.
The successful candidate will work 6.2 hours per day over 3 days, Tuesday (8.30am-2.45pm) being a must but the other 2 days are flexible.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Arrange and conduct intake and assessment interviews with applicants
- Liaise and work with the appropriate teams in respect to the suitability applicants, property and location
- To update and maintain records in relation to the allocations process, including collection of data and reporting
- Develop and apply a sound understanding of alternative housing opportunities to refer and assist applicants
- Undertake quality allocation and offer processes in line with organisational standards to create sustainable tenancies
- Liaise with the Property & Assets Manager in relation to the operation and maintenance of the properties to identify and report emerging issues

- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of clients
- Knowledge of the statutory, regulatory and contractual frameworks social housing providers operate within
- Experience in and a commitment to the provision of high quality direct services to clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
- A commitment to the principles of equity of access and cultural diversity
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience of tenancy and housing management
- Good organisational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact sensitively with vulnerable people.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and ability to work independently when required.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting the Aboriginal and ATSI community particularly in regards to transience and homelessness, cultural awareness and sensitivities.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a wide range of social-economic, multicultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
