Remuneration:
Remuneration value up to AU$514,452 p.a. comprising salary between $9,360.20 p.f. - $9,924.00 p.f. (L25-L27) or remuneration value up to $470,780 p.a. comprising salary between $7,827.20 p.f. - $9,091.70 p.f. (L18-L24); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%) is paid for 4 weeks leave, attraction and retention incentive allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover, plus overtime and on-call allowances.
The Role:
Mackay Hospital and Health Service has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.

Your opportunity
A Staff Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director in:

• Provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Unit/Department.
• Education of medical staff and students, Allied Health, interested community groups and nursing staff.
• Active participation in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities.

The department currently provides anaesthesia for orthopaedic, trauma, general, gynaecological, obstetric, paediatric, ENT, dental, ECT and endoscopic procedures. We also provide a pre-assessment clinic, an acute pain service and obstetric epidural service. We support the trauma and cardiac arrest teams.
The department is an accredited training facility and thus you will be required to supervise Principal House Officers, Junior House Officers and Interns, Registrars and Provisional Fellows.
