We value those with sharp, analytical minds and are open to challenging the way things are done.The teamThe Indigenous Outreach Program (IOP) is an established and specialist team working across ASIC to provide advice, insights and support to ensure ASIC's engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is culturally appropriate and sensitive. The team also works with industry, service providers and other government agencies to influence system change and drive positive financial outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.The IOP is a national team that sits within ASIC's Credit, Banking and General Insurance team, within Regulation and Supervision division, and works across ASIC.The roleAs an Analyst you will be accountable for:
  • identifying problems and analysing information related to First Nations consumers and communities' engagement with the financial system.
  • undertaking research, assessing and critically analysing information.
  • contributing to policy review and implementation of future policy directions and reforms.
  • contributing to detailed reports, papers and submissions on a broad range of strategic legal, policy and technical issues involving the interpretation and implementation of laws administered by ASIC.
  • supporting projects to encourage systemic market change in urban, remote and regional areas.
  • identifying and contributing to communication opportunities focused on financial wellbeing messages for First Nations audiences.
  • maintaining local information networks and developing relationships with key stakeholders
  • undertaking outreach and engagement activities in urban, regional and remote locations with specific objectives relating to the IOPs function.
About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience and/or legal qualifications highly regarded.
  • Experience in analysing factual and legal issues, undertaking relevant research/enquiries and problem solving to provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Experience engaging with First Nations consumers, advocates and communities.
  • Experience in communicating with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in establishing, developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Work independently with limited supervision and be accountable for outcomes.
  • Current drivers' licence.
