Come join our amazing team and help us to Coordinate our Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) Program. This program makes a difference by matching mental health clinicians with Delta therapy dog teams to deliver canine assisted psychotherapy. 
 

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is responsible for the coordination of the Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) program. You will work with volunteers and their dogs, and our Program Partners, to coordinate the delivery of canine assisted psychotherapy. 

You will be responsible for:

  • achievement of AAT activity KPIs;
  • recruitment of adequate Therapy Dog Teams;
  • management of therapy dog team assessments;
  • on-going volunteer management and support;
  • coordination of clinician and volunteer AAT training;
  • on-boarding Program Partners to the program;
  • matching Therapy Dog Teams to AAT placements;
  • supporting Program Partners and volunteers to formulate AAT activities;
  • continuous improvement of the AAT program; and
  • contributions to team projects and other tasks as needed.

Location: Sydney region, NSW (working from home).

Equipment requirements: Laptop, phone and printer will be supplied, however safe home office set-up is required. Unrestricted driver’s licence and own fully insured vehicle required, however travel allowance is payable.

Travel requirements: Sydney region (1-2 times a month), and potentially other NSW regions (2-3 times a year) and interstate (2-3 times a year). 

Hours: Part-time contract from 1 July 2024 – 30 June 2025. A contract for 22hours a week is preferred, but can be flexible within the range of 18-22hours a week for the right candidate. Flexibility to work weekends and after business hours as required. 

Remuneration: $74,024 FTE (pro rata to part-time hours) + superannuation + opportunity to salary sacrifice
 

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for people orientated, results driven, passionate individuals, with strong program coordination skills, to join the team at Delta Therapy Dogs. Experience in the delivery of psychotherapy / mental health services is highly regarded, and a desire to specialise in the Animal Assisted Therapy field is crucial. 

Key Essential Criteria for the role:
(All of the following criteria must be addressed in your application)

  • Proven to be a results-oriented self-starter who enjoys achieving targets;
  • A capacity to work flexibly to respond to and support the needs of our busy clinicians and volunteers;
  • An ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Confidence to support a multidisciplinary team of volunteers and clinicians;
  • Well developed influencing, liaison, negotiation and problem solving skills; and
  • A love for dogs and animals, a passion for our mission and a commitment to positive reinforcement methods of animal training.

Desirable Criteria:
(Relevant criteria should be addressed in your application)

  • Psychotherapy / mental health experience;
  • Tertiary qualifications in health, allied health or social sciences, NFP/Social Enterprise Management or volunteer management; 
  • Industry experience working in a for-purpose organisation (aka NGO, NFP or charity);
  • Proven experience as a Volunteer Coordinator;
  • Experience working alongside or as a volunteer yourself;
  • Experience working in or with health or community facilities such as hospitals, aged care, disability or mental health services etc.; and/or
  • Experience coordinating or delivering Animal Assisted Interventions.
