LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB
The Animal Attendant and Kennel Hand is a member of the Ranger team and is responsible for the cleaning of council’s animal Holding facility, exercising and feeding of dogs and cats within the facility, transportation to council’s pound provider and may be required to microchip companion animals and release of seized animals to their owner/s from the holding facility. The role provides animal care and education to the public in relation to responsible pet ownership.
Other core accountabilities include:
- Monitor incoming animals for injury and disease
- Order Food and Cleaning Chemicals
- Maintain Material Safety Data documentation
- Maintain accurate records of seized animals.
- Prepare and promote responsible pet ownership education programs.
- Releasing animals to owners processing payments and updating Companion Animals Register
- Manage enquiries from Senior Ranger and Group Lead Ranger Services in a timely manner.

- Shift work / weekend work

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
- Veterinarian Nurse Cert IV or equivalent relevant experience in animal handling
- Current Drivers Licence
- Basic knowledge of the Companion Animals Act 1998
- Proven good communication skills
- Understanding of dog and cat behaviour
- Ability to be authorised to microchip Companion Animals
- Experience in towing and reversing trailers

- Competitive commencing rate from $42.35per hour (including 25% casual loading) + 12% superannuation
- Enterprise Agreement salary increase of 3.5% as of 8 July 2024
