Animal Welfare League NSW is dedicated to the protection and welfare of animals. We strive to provide a safe and loving environment for abandoned, neglected and surrendered animals, with the goal of finding them permanent, happy homes.
The role
Animal Attendants are responsible for ensuring high standards of animal wellbeing are maintained for all animal in the care of AWL NSW and for ensuring high standards of customer service with regard to animal related matters.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Animal Care, including:
- exercising the animals,
- feeding animals as per feeding plans,
- observing for injury, illness or behavioural problems and reporting to supervisors accordingly
- ensuring appropriate housing for animals
- washing and grooming
- adhering to animal handling standards and procedures
- Ensuring animal, public and staff areas are clean and cleaning procedures are adhered to
- Record and maintain accurate animal records
- Animal training, including adhering to rehabilitation plans
- Assist customers in viewing and selecting new pets
The skills you will possess are:
- Minimum Certificate II in Animal Studies
- Experience in an animal handling role
- Experience in customer service with a friendly and approachable manner
- Experience working in a team environment and the ability to be a team player
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good fitness to cope with physical demands
