About the Position

As the Animal Management Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and streamlining operations at the City’s Animal Care Facility, as well as actively promoting responsible ownership within the community.

This pivotal role operates from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday and involves caring for impounded companion animals and working diligently to reunite pets with their owners or securing new homes through our network of trusted external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

The duties of the Animal Management Officer will include but are not limited to:

  • Undertake daily care of impounded animals including inspection upon admission, quarantining as required, feeding, watering and cleaning of Animal Care Facility
  • Enforce relevant legislation and actively promote responsible animal ownership within the community
  • Coordinate euthanasia of animals and disposal of remains where necessary
  • Microchip cats and dogs as required prior to release.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through identification and management of hazards
  • Attend to customer queries, manage associated databases and process animal registrations

About You

  • Dog & Cat Management and Control Qualification or similar qualification
  • Animal Handling experience
  • Ability to manage aggrieved people in difficult and emotional situations
  • Effective communication and exceptional customer service skills

This permanent part-time position is a Level 5 Inside Workforce Agreement position which attracts a salary from $74,713.17 - $78,648.24 gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation.

To be eligible to work for us, you need to provide, or have ability obtain a:

  • A copy of Australian driving licence
  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months)
  • Pre-Employment Medical and DAS clearance
  • The right to work in Australia
