Are you passionate about your community? About the role We are seeking a dedicated AOD Peer Worker!

You will provide support of program participants to facilitate program groups and provide direction for participants accessing Project Hope. Responsibilities include Be present at Project Hope from times to be determined on rostered days Provide a lived/living experience perspective when facilitating/co-facilitating groups/activities Provide support to clients during the admission process

One-on-one work with participants in conjunction with their AOD Practitioner Provide support to the AOD Specialist team where necessary whilst maintaining the scope of the Peer role This is a fixed-term part-time position, contracted until December 2024, 15 hours per week, based in Dandenong, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 2 Award.

What you will have Experience supporting people struggling with substance use, including previous volunteer work Evidence of completion of Peer Training through SHARC Evidence of completion of AOD Skill Set or willingness to enrol Knowledge of AOD sector, knowledge of issues and challenges clients experience and clear understanding of harm minimisation approaches Lived or living experience of addiction and accessing treatment services Knowledge around trauma informed practice A clear understanding of the peer role and the differences between the work of clinicians and the work of Peers A Valid Driver’s Licence (desirable) Benefits working at The Salvation Army We offer our eligible employees NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefits Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport
