Airbus currently has opportunities available for Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (Mechanical, Structures or Avionics) to join their Maintenance team at RAAF Base Richmond in support of the C130J Through Life Support Program.

About the role
As an Apprentice AME, you will be responsible for meeting the technical and professional commitments of an apprenticeship, with the outcome of achieving a Cert IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical, Structures or Avionics).
In this role you will work under direct and limited supervision to carry out inspection, testing, repair, modification, and installation of aircraft hydro-mechanical and flight system components, and aircraft engines subassemblies and components, in a heavy maintenance environment to become proficient in the following:
- Interpret HSE practices in aviation maintenance;
- Plan and organise aviation maintenance work activities;
- Apply quality standards applicable to aviation maintenance processes;
- Interpret and use aviation maintenance industry manuals and specifications;
- Complete aviation maintenance industry documentation;
- Perform basic hand skill, standard trade practices and fundamentals in aviation maintenance;
- Undertake technical and professional training as required
About you
We are looking for passionate and driven individuals who have a strong desire to complete an apprenticeship and become a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical, Structures or Avionics.
To be successful in this role, we recommend that you have:
- Completed theory component of Cert IV Aeroskills through an RTO with exam scores of 75% or above (Industry requirement to be eligible to obtain MAML)
- A keen interest in the aviation industry and mechanics
- An aptitude for practical, hands-on skills
- The ability to work well in a team and individually
- Initiative and responsibility
- Good workplace and technical communication skills
The role is based in Richmond, NSW and will require the successful candidate to be located within a reasonable travel distance of the location.
You must be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment medical screening which may include drug and alcohol testing.
About the Apprenticeship Program
This certification is nationally recognised and is industry relevant.
The typical Apprenticeship structure will see you apply the knowledge from your theory studies within the workplace, and on the job competency acquisition as demonstrated through an experience journal.
At completion of your apprenticeship, there are opportunities for on‐going employment and development to obtain a Military Aircraft Maintenance Licence (MAML).
