The Opportunity - 

Novaskill is currently partnered with a local business to offer a Tiling Apprenticeship, including on-the-job training with ongoing mentoring and support to help you start building your career.

We're looking for those looking to start their career or continue their apprenticeship in a new environment!

You'll be completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling whilst gaining experience & developing relationships in the Tiling Industry.

This position is an all weather career in the construction industry, offering you regular and consistency while you complete your studies.

 Learnings - 

• Interpret plans and prepare surfaces ready for tiling
• Carry out measurements and calculations to conduct curve work, volumes and other wall and floor tiling tasks
• Master mosaic and patterned tiling techniques
• Incorporate specialist skills to tile difficult areas like curved surfaces
• Use a tile cutter to shape a range of tiles types to fit basic and complex edges and corners

Outcomes – 

• A nationally recognised qualification at Certificate III level
• Confidence in preparing surfaces and applying waterproofing surfaces on internal and external wet areas
• The skills to use wall and floor tiling equipment such as wet and dry diamond saws, grinders, laser levels, multi-tools and manual tile cutters
• Experience in laying and repairing wall and floor tiles and tiling on curved surfaces
• A sound understanding of carrying out mosaic tiling and putting together tessellated patterns of decorative heritage tiling

Apprenticeship Suitability Recommendations – 
To succeed in this apprenticeship, we recommend you have – 

• A good level of fitness to manage the physical demands of the job, including lifting boxes of tiles and adhesive bags, crouching, kneeling, and bending to perform work
• The ability to work by yourself and with others
• The ability to work hard and meet deadlines
• Commitment to safety

• Have time management, attention to detail, and good communication
• White Card, or willingness to obtain
• Drivers Licence & Reliable Transport is required
