Work in a team of trade personnel, passionate about their industry.
Under supervision, you would learn the necessary skills to service, maintain and repair trucks, heavy equipment and diesel engines, whilst working in a team environment. As an apprentice you would also be responsible for workshop cleaning and assisting other members of the team with servicing and problem solving.
What would this involve?
- You would be employed by Work & Training for the duration of your apprenticeship and hosted to a business.
- You would be working full time hours.
- Theory training conducted by TasTAFE - about 6 blocks of training per year.
- You would receive mentoring and support throughout the traineeship.

- You will be involved in a variety of work including scheduled servicing, maintenance and repair of Heavy Vehicles. If you have a genuine interest in Mechanical Technology, you will gain an excellent insight in to this industry, with the apprenticeship setting you up for an excellent future career pathway.
- A chance to demonstrate your ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and hone your positive work ethic.
- Develop your capacity to follow procedures, instructions and safe work practices, and communicate in a professional manner within the work place.
Essential Criteria:
- Manual Drivers Licence.
- Ability to follow Work Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work with oils, grease, petrol & diesel.
Desirable Criteria:
- Certificate I or II in Automotive or similar VET course qualification.
