Children’s Policy Branch is seeking a number of Administrative Officers to support activities under Safe and Supported: The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children.While the roles are able to be located in available regional and State Department of Social Services offices, travel to the National Office in Tuggeranong may be required.The Branch is seeking energetic, motivated and experienced Administrative Officers with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work under pressure in a high profile and fast paced environment.The roles are in the following sections working on the Safe and Supported Action Plans:
- The Workforce and Wellbeing section’s manages activities focusing on the child and family sector workforce and on the safety and wellbeing of Australian children, young people, parents and carers.
- The Evidence and Reporting section provides clerical, procedural and coordination tasks, for Children’s Policy Branch.
- The Accountability and System Leadership governance team provides coordination and Secretariat functions for the inter-governmental Community Services Ministers meeting and a number of decision-making committees and working groups.
To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).Applicants also must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA.
