Job description

Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Forensic Accountant to join our team. Bring your tax accounting background and investigative skills to this exciting new role.

In this role you will be required to provide technical support and advice, whilst coordinating and assisting in strategic planning, program and project management and policy within the Fraud Investigations branch.

The Fraud Fusion Taskforce has been established to detect and prevent fraud in the NDIS and to strengthen the Commonwealth’s fraud detection and response capability.

The role of the Taskforce is to detect fraud committed by serious and organised crime entities (SOC) and others who seek to exploit the government’s social support systems. The branch focus is on protecting the Scheme’s financial sustainability, strengthening fraud control arrangements and supporting the Fraud Fusion Taskforce to strengthen the Commonwealth’s fraud detection and response capability. This will improve support to NDIS participants and reduce waste of resources due to fraud, serious non-compliance and incorrect payments.

Where you can add value

As a Forensic Accountant, you will play a crucial role in investigating financial irregularities and fraud. You will provide financial expertise and support to investigations, applying critical thinking and analysis skills to identify key issues with financial and non-financial information.
