The Role
An APS 6Logistics Policy and Doctrine Officer under broad direction, contributes to planning and program management requirements by providing complex procedural, operational and administrative support for the Logistic Management Functions within Joint Logistics Command (JLC). You will provide detailed logistics technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development.
You will undertake technical research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform administrative support work to achieve results and Logistics Systems Transition Projects to support business readiness with the adoption of Defence Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Additionally, you will undertake a high level of stakeholder engagement and liaison across Joint Capabilities Group (JCG), the ERP Program, Defence Groups and Services and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex logistic systems issues. You will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
The APS 6Logistics Policy and Doctrine Officer will be required to:
  • Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
  • Exercise both initiative and judgment in the interpretation of Policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
  • Provide detailed logistics technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
  • Be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows.
  • Be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
  • Exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.
  • Have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues.
  • Identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
  • Be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development
About our Team
The Directorate of Logistics Systems Sustainment (DLSS) is located in Canberra and Melbourne, and is one of three directorates within the Logistics Systems Branch. The Directorate consists of a blended APS, ADF and contractor workforce, many with deep subject matter expertise and specialist skills. It is agile to meet the changing business demands of the organisation, including embracing ERP.

Have a good level of computer literacy, knowledge of business transformation initiatives.
