The Australian Defence College (ADC) is currently seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety Manager (WHS) at the APS 6 level to lead and oversee WHS functions at ADC HQ and provide technical advice and assurance to satellite units throughout the Command.Reporting to the ADC Deputy Director of Governance and WHS, the position supports students, staff and senior leadership by providing high quality, timely and accurate guidance on work health and safety matters.About our Team
The APS 6WHS Manager position sits within the ADC HQ team, and is responsible for work health and safety activities across the Command. The WHS team supports staff, students and senior leadership by providing high quality, timely and accurate advice on work health and safety matters.This role requires you to engage with stakeholders that can be dispersed throughout the precinct, and walking around the site will be a requirement of the role.Our Ideal Candidate
In this role, the WHS Manager will require:
- A good working knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and practices;
- Experience maintaining and updating a WHS Management System for a large private or government organization;
- Collaborating with and providing well-structured advice to influence internal and external stakeholders;
- Working with senior staff (designated as officers under S 27 of the WHS Act);
- Work in a team to plan and prioritise work to tight deadlines;
- Represent a WHS team at WHS related conversations, training and forums;
- Well-developed writing skills including briefs, reports, papers;
- Be proactive, resilient and organized; and
- The ability to work with limited supervision to action multiple priorities in a fast faced environment.
