The Role
Our Workplace Relations Officers undertake important policy reform and development across a range of pay and employment conditions, for both Australian Defence Force members and Australian Public Service employees. Your work will shape the way Defence manages and supports its workforce. Key responsibilities of these roles include:
- Research, analysis and implementation of legislation, policies and procedures;
- Development and reform of policy compliant with legislation and tailored to meet the unique requirements of the Department of Defence;
- Engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders in order to achieve policy outcomes;
- Development of business processes to allow the team to operate efficiently and effectively;
- Build workforce capability by providing complex policy advice and guidance; and
- Work collaboratively in a geographically dispersed team.
About our Team
The People Policy and Employment Conditions Branch within the Defence People Group deliver contemporary people policy, remuneration and broader conditions of service and employment for both the Australian Defence Force and Defence APS employees.
As a centre of expertise and subject matter experts, we support the broader Defence People Group to work in partnership with Services and Groups to enable Defence capability, build a capable workforce and deliver integrated services through a modern and agile people system.
We are made up of six Directorates, including APS Workplace Relations; Overseas and Housing Policy; Military People Policy; Military Remuneration; Drafting and Engagement; and Superannuation Policy. We value our team members and foster a positive team culture.
