The South Australian Port Augusta section works collaboratively with the other state and territory offices as well as policy, program, regulatory and corporate areas of the Department to achieve the Government's health and aged care priorities. Responsibilities of the sections within the South Australian office include leading regional stewardship through:
- Engagement with key stakeholders across the aged care and health sectors to enable the provision of local knowledge, analysing local and regional aged care sector needs and service level analysis including understanding issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Provision of program management, aged care system stewardship, engagement with stakeholders, local solutions
brokering, and assistance in policy development and input into program design and evaluation.
- Appropriate support for the aged care sector to respond to COVID-19 and other emergency situations as required.
The key duties of the position include
As an APS6 Departmental Officer in the SA Pt Augusta Office, you will work collaboratively as part of a team to perform a range of functions which may include stakeholder engagement activities, program management, reconsideration of aged care assessment decisions, local Aboriginal health and ageing program assurance, and stewardship of the aged care system within South Australia.
Requirements of the role/s include the following:
• Representation on local fora to ensure key stakeholders understand and can have input into government priorities, reforms, and programs.
• Stakeholder and community engagement which may include: o gathering perspectives with a community and regional focus, and providing and receiving information on health and aged care programs, policies, and priorities
o promoting best practice in delivery of aged care programs through proactive engagement with providers and other stakeholders and providing advice to the aged care sector in SA.
• Assistance in policy development and program design and evaluation, and program assurance activities that support policy and program areas to know the Department's program responsibilities and priorities are being met.
• Maintenance and usage of relevant databases and systems, with inputting and extraction of information as required, monitoring the supply of aged care services in different locations within SA.
• Preparation for, and the provision of support relating to emergency events, including assisting in the development of procedures and actively facilitating and promoting preparedness across the office.
