This leading Agency is the national authority for work health and safety, and workers' compensation.
About the Team:
The Reconsiderations and Appeals team is responsible for the statutory reconsiderations of Comcare claims decisions and management of the Agency's response to Administrative Appeals Tribunal applications and court appeals. The team works closely with the Senior Director, Claims, the Claims Operations teams and the Agency's Legal Group to achieve positive outcomes for employees and employers.
About the role:
The APS5 Reconsiderations Officer works as part of the team responsible for the statutory reconsideration of workers' compensation claim decisions. The APS5 Reconsideration Officers support the Assistant Director, Reconsiderations and the Senior Reconsideration Officers through research, analysis, claim file review, drafting and making recommendations, and communications with stakeholders.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Contribute to the Agency's purpose, Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.
• Apply a well-developed understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks to a variety of interrelated activities and solutions to a range of problems.
• As part of a team, deliver reconsideration services in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets. This includes monitoring claims management activities and
• compliance with Comcare's rules and objectives. Assist in coaching, guiding and developing less experienced colleagues, as required.
• Support the Assistant Director Reconsiderations and Senior Review Officers by delivering analysis, research, making recommendations and drafting reconsideration decisions. Escalate issues where required and help to achieve positive outcomes.
• Undertake work that is moderately complex to complex in nature and operate under limited direction.
• Work across Comcare and our client agencies, to focus on consistent claims management, positive claim outcomes, sharing information and better practice, and resolving conflicts and issues.
• Consult and advise internal and external stakeholders, anticipate and respond to their needs and expectations.
• Act in accordance with APS and Agency requirements including human resource, financial management and procurement requirements.
• Support the connecting and integration of claims management with other functions of the Group, Comcare and across the APS.

Mandatory:

• Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication skills
• Tertiary qualifications in law, Business or Administrative.
• Experience in analysing information (particularly data), managing risk and using judgement to inform decisions.
• Experience working in service delivery operations
• Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one.
