AHL hostels are a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay.
The OpportunityThis is an opportunity to support the effective and efficient management of AHL’s ICT function which directly contributes to supporting hostel staff so they can welcome and manage guests, many of whom have travelled hundreds of km away from home.
This role is available at either the APS5 or APS6 level, depending on the successful candidates experience.
The RoleAs an ICT Service Desk Officer, you will have a range of activities including:
- Providing timely and effective support in all aspects of desktop hardware, Windows server OS and approved software
- Answering incoming calls to the Service Desk
- Tracking, delivery, management and disposal of assets
- Performing hands-on fixes and administration of user accounts
- Contributing to the administration and maintenance of ICT systems
- Assisting and encouraging staff to learn and develop
People with a strong understanding of First Nations histories and cultures are well suited to this opportunity. You will need to be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations peoples.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Support Desk environment with experience in fault finding hardware and applications is required.
A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, or progress towards obtaining such qualifications will be highly regarded.
You will also have:
- Experience in delivering quality customer service
- The ability to explain and educate staff in a patient, kind and thoughtful way
- The ability to work under limited direction in a small, busy team
- The ability to achieve and hold a Baseline Security Clearance (you must be an Australian Citizen)
- Experience in Support Desk level 1 & 2 within Government is highly desirable
This role is a fulltime, permanent opportunity and can be based in AHL’s offices in Canberra or Brisbane.
- APS Level 5 – $75,040 – $79,671 + 15.4% Super
- APS Level 6 – $82,715 – $86,978 + 15.4% Super
- Pending the outcome of the AHL’s Enterprise Agreement, employees will receive salary increases
