The Role

Under limited direction, the role will lead a team to:

  • Manage the Navy Overseas Training and Training Travel Team
  • Manage Training Travel in accordance with financial, legislative and policy frameworks
  • Develop and maintain Training Force business rules for Training Travel
  • Generate and Manage the Navy Overseas Training Plan
  • Provide input to the Training Force travel budget
  • Approve travel and course payments within financial delegations
  • Liaise with and provide advice to internal and external stakeholders, including international stakeholders, as required in accordance with Training Force Conduct audits of financial reports and travel data
  • Raise purchase orders to pay for international courses
  • Process claims on MyFi and other financial tools as required
  • Process travel requests and make travel bookings as required

About our Team
The Navy Overseas Training and Training Travel (NOTATT) team manages specialist training sourced from Defence and non-Defence suppliers, including international training. It also facilitates the movements of trainees to international destinations and Navy's US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) training cases. NOTATT is delegated to oversee the management of COMTRAIN endorsed Training Travel between the member's home port (or local residence) and the training location. 

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing complex project outputs under limited direction.  You will be able to lead and manage the team responsible for monitoring and reviewing expenditure against funding allocations and approvals for Navy OverseasTraining and trainee travel, including domestictraining.  You will be able to lead the review of Training Travel and related activities to ensure compliance with established policies.

Our ideal candidate will be able to apply expert advice to influence business decisions using knowledge of strategic planning, program and project management. You will actively engage and influence stakeholders to shape and implement reforms to achieve cost savings and efficiencies.  Most importantly, you will be able to build and sustain effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business outcomes and resolve problems, including the provision of advice to Defence members in regards to Travel entitlements.
