The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a small team at the APS6 level, supporting the regulation of goods under relevant legislation.
This role offers security if you’re wanting to enter the APS, with an 18-month non-ongoing contract on offer. For existing permanent APS employees, this opportunity will be offered as a temporary 18-month transfer or secondment. Acting APS6 and higher duties opportunities will be considered for existing high performing APS5 employees.
Experienced management accountants and financial accountants from the private sector are encouraged to apply. The Role
As an APS6 Activity Based Costing Officer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the organisation’s activity-based costing (ABC) model, ensuring regular updates, meticulous data collection, and comprehensive reporting.
Your role extends to preparing Cost Recovery Implementation Statements (CRIS) for the organisation’s products and services, maintaining ABC software, and delivering training to users.
Collaborating with various stakeholders, including business units, government agencies, and bodies, you’ll contribute valuable expertise to organisational managers on revenue, pricing, and cost recovery matters.
The Ideal Person
You likely come from one of two backgrounds. You will be an existing APS employee aiming to transition between departments or a high-performing and experienced management accountant or financial accountant from the private sector seeking a move into the federal government.
You should demonstrate advanced problem-solving capabilities and possess substantial knowledge in costing. While CA/CPA qualifications (or progress towards them) are favourable but not essential, desirable capabilities include advanced MS Excel skills, experience in management accounting or reporting (which would be advantageous), and knowledge of the Cost Recovery Guidelines, budget processes, and financial and reporting framework.
Salary / Rate
$102k + 15.4% Super or salary match for Section26 transfer
S26 temporary transfer for existing APS employees or 18 month non-ongoing contract
