The Role
An APS 6 Project Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex project work within an integrated workforce developing and applying knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. The role will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
APS 6 will provide detailed project technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to project management outcomes, with a priority focus on ICT requirements associated with infrastructure projects. They will monitor and report the progress of projects that deliver Defence ICT to facilities, thereby supporting Air Force capabilities. The projects may be related to permanent or temporary facilities and their associated Defence ICT systems, as well as fixed ICT installed for exercise and trial activities.
About our Team
APS 6 Project Manager is accountable under broad direction HQ AWC A10 Facilities and Infrastructure Manager to achieve complex project management work within the Logistic Capability A10 (Facilities) section. You will provide appropriate, timely expert advice to AWC A10, who in turn supports Director Logistic Capability and HQ AWC executives on issues affecting current, near and long term future force.
You will be responsible for actively managing key relationships between HQ AWC, AWC Directorates and Units, Security and Estate Group, Chief Information Operations Group (CIOG) and will be required to identify relevant stakeholder expectations to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
This will include leading and assisting in the monitoring of requirements identified during AWC internal reporting and meetings. The position is part of a team with responsibility for Facilities Management in AWC. As a Headquarters function, the team undertakes reporting and supports prioritisation for AWC Units’ requirements.

We are looking for a Project Manager, with ICT project management experience. You will possess knowledge and expertise of project management from requirements gathering to project delivery. You will develop and apply knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policy and procedures. You are to show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of the customers, and the agility and adaptability to realign resourcing to meet that new challenge.
As someone who is interested in self-development, you will be quick and resourceful in learning about the projects and developing domain knowledge that will enable you to understand and provide solutions to issues. This role will also suit an early career professional, who is fast learner with some project management experience, who wishes to use this role as a professional stepping stone to develop their analytical, personal and communication skills working within a small and supportive team.
