The Office of National Intelligence (ONI) is seeking a WHS Officer to join their People Policy and Strategy Section – a team that will support you in your role and help you shine as a passionate WHS Officer. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to bring your unique talents to the forefront of ONI’s health and safety agenda and make a real impact on the safety culture of our organisation.

This position is an integral part of the People Policy and Strategy team and contributes to the enhancement and implementation of ONI’s WHS Management System and associated policies, processes and systems. The role will promote and provide WHS guidance and advice to employees, managers and stakeholders to ensure the ONI maintains a healthy and safe workplace.

The key duties of the position include:

• Provide advice, guidance and support to employees and key stakeholders to ensure the ONI WHS Management System is implemented and fosters a safety‐first culture
• Provide coaching and mentoring to First Aid Officers, Health and Safety Representatives, Emergency Wardens and Workplace Behaviour Advisors to ensure they understand their WHS responsibilities and their legislative obligations
• Coordinate agenda items, papers, minutes and activities in connection with relevant WHS committees
• Support teams to identify and report incidents and hazards and monitor corrective actions to ensure operations are undertaken safely and facilities/property are used appropriately
• Identify and make recommendations to ensure the ONI WHS Management System is effectively and consistently implemented across the ONI, including providing input into policies, procedures and other WHS guidelines
• In consultation with the Director People Strategy and Policy, procure, coordinate, develop and/or deliver a range of safety training and collateral to ensure daily business operations are undertaken in a safe manner.
