Operations Team
Petuna is seeking casual Aquaculture Attendants to join our team for the upcoming smolt handfeeding and harvest season. This opportunity may result in ongoing work on a full-time and/or part-time basis.
The positions are situated at our Aquaculture Farm at Rowella, 35 minutes from Launceston. The Rowella Farm is unique in the Tasmanian Aquaculture industry as it utilises a steel cage platform with a fixed link to the shoreline enabling vehicular and pedestrian access.
The team work on a lifestyle friendly roster, commencing at 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Overtime and weekend work may be offered (at applicable penalty rates) from time to time.
Duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager, key duties and responsibilities for the role include:
- Compliance with all safety procedures and protocols.
- Be an effective part of a team with a strong work ethic.
- Understand and follow all farm strategies, procedures and protocols.
- Operate ROV and surface net cleaning machinery.
- Assist with harvesting operations, net construction and fish health, activities.
- Ensure all farm equipment is handled / operated correctly to optimise equipment use and the security of fish.
- Correctly record required information.
- Assist in the control and monitoring of all issues related to air and seaborne predators.
Qualifications Required
- Cert III in Aquaculture or previous experience in finfish farming (or a related field) will be highly regarded.
- A forklift licence, coxswains and/or first aid certificate will be highly regarded.
- Be physically fit, capable for labour work and committed to working outdoors.
- Have a can-do attitude and take pride in completing tasks to a high standard.
- Current Right to work in Australia.
- Demonstrates strong commitment to safety for self and fellow team members.
