The Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) is Australia’s first dedicated service for young people with life-limiting illness. The service provides 15 to 24-year-old patients with respite care, symptom management, end-of-life care, and step down from an acute hospital prior to discharge home.

What you'll be doing
The Art Therapist is considered as a part of the multidisciplinary team at AYAH and makes a significant contribution to the home like environment and general well-being of the families in residence.
The Art Therapist will be responsible for conducting an Art Therapy program to adolescents / young adults and their families who are connected with the AYAH. This will be done on both an individual and group level according to the Principles and Practices of Art Therapy.
The aim of the program is to create an opportunity for reflection, expression as well as enhancing the quality of life for the adolescents / young adults and their families in residence.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Must hold a Master’s degree in art therapy which provides eligibility for professional membership of the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer and minimum experience at a Level 2 Art Therapist within a Health environment or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of Art Therapy programs along with significant experience working with adolescents and young adults.
- Knowledge and understanding of Young adult palliative care, the effects of stress and trauma in this population and the workings of a hospice.
