Foundation for Independence Recreation and Social Training Inc. (F.I.R.S.T.) is seeking an experienced Artist/ Crafts person eager to become part of a dedicated team supporting our service users.
F.I.R.S.T. is a grassroots, member-driven organisation that provides community access across Logan, Brisbane, Bayside, and surrounding areas in addition to group support based at our centers in Eagleby, Loganholme, and Coomera.
We focus on empowerment, social connection, skills building, having fun, safety, and well-being, and are committed to having high-quality well-trained staff. This role is highly diverse and crosses over multiple art mediums.
We are committed to our member's personal development through artistic development opportunities and prevocational training programs.
We are currently seeking an experienced Arts Facilitator/s with a diverse range of skills in the creative arts; Ceramics/ Pottery, Textiles, 2D and 3D mediums, etc to develop, implement and deliver our in-center programs.
Skills and experience required:
- Highly creative and flexible
- Skilled artisan/s with effective skills in teaching, supporting, and creatively working with people living with a disability.
- Ability to drive and direct programs and their outcomes.
- Genuine interest in supporting and empowering people living with a disability and fellow support staff to become the best they can be.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Enthusiastic and contagious energy
- Able to recognize the individual needs of service users and support them to achieve goals.
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of situations.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to work autonomously.

- Arts Portfolio demonstrating skills
- Experience working with persons with a disability.
- Current QLD driver’s license.
- Own a vehicle with comprehensive car insurance.
- Smartphone for accessing roster and email.
- Blue Card and Yellow Card or ability to pass NDIS worker screening check.
- Have Worker Orientation Modules ‘Quality, Safety & You’ ‘Effective Communication’, and ‘Mealtime Support’ certificates or are willing to obtain.
- Preferably have qualifications in Disability
