LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB  

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Asset Inspector to join our team at Lake Macquarie City Council. As the Asset Inspector - Infrastructure you will be responsible for undertaking asset inspections on infrastructure within the city. 

This position provides variety within your day work both outdoors and in the office undertaking a variety of tasks including. 

This exciting role will:  

  • Inspect both Council constructed assets and developer constructed assets to ensure engineering guidelines and best practice are provided in all assets accepted by Council.
  • Provide support and information to the Technical Officer and Coordinator to ensure that the Asset Management department achieves its policy objectives.
  • Ensure that condition audits are carried out on assets in accordance with organisational procedures and protocols, to enable accurate assessment and recording of asset condition 
  • Investigate and report on reactive maintenance requests that are beyond the scope of annual maintenance programmes. 
  • Produce appropriate analysis and reports relating to the condition, service levels, risk management, asset maintenance, and life cycle costing of assets.  
  • Review and monitor the implementation of asset management and maintenance plans between service providers and Assets Management and provide reports on maintenance systems, operational procedures, and performance indicators. 
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a range of mediums including email, phone calls, letters and meetings. 
  • Interpret engineering plans to provide technical advice to other departments of Council in relation to new assets being proposed, acquired and planned

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU 

  • Relevant trade qualifications, or demonstrated experience, in the field of infrastructure asset management, preferably in transport management
  • You stand out from the crowd with experience in assessing and reporting on the condition of assets while being diligent within undertaking inspections  
  • Being passionate about working together to meet a common goal, your teamwork skills are second to none.
  • You have the natural ability to communicate and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Your experience and knowledge in asset management practices relating to infrastructure assets will be evident
  • Having well-developed communication skills being able to effectively communicate via a range of channels including both verbally and in writing is a must.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to effectively manage relationships with difficult customers, respond to complaints, and relay outcomes on complex, technical and emotive issues.
  • Hold a current Class C Driver's Licence
