Your new role  

The role of Asset Investigation Specialist is a key technical position within the Infrastructure, Planning & Strategy team, tasked with leading and enhancing the expertise of investigations into Water and Wastewater Assets. This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement, with a particular focus on the new FEED (Front End Engineering Design) process, ensuring that project options are thoroughly evaluated. This evaluation process is crucial in considering investment options that mitigate risk and align with SA Water's overarching strategy.  

Your responsibilities will include.  

  • Work with multi-disciplinary front end investigation teams of internal and external subject matter experts and service providers (Capable and committed team) 
  • Customer focus - translate strategic objectives and customer levels of service into project requirement statements (Working together) 
  • Manage the delivery of Asset Investigations to achieve cost effective, quality solutions. 
  • Develop and apply consistent processes to complex investigations and project/output definitions 
  • Improved outcomes - delivery performance for continually improved outcomes for the customer (Keeping it simple) 
  • Home safe - understand the WHS impact of decisions made in the investigation and definition phase (Capable and committed team) 

What you’ll need to succeed  

 The Asset Investigation Specialist will report to the Manager of Investigations and Regulatory and will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening asset management relationships with strategic internal and external stakeholders. This role is essential in ensuring a robust approach to the management of critical assets, safeguarding their integrity now and for the future. 

To be successful in the role you will have:  

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Science or related degree 
  • A strong understanding of Asset Management Principals 
  • Ability to resolve conflict and differences of opinions to promote consensus among subject matter experts and internal and external stakeholders 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally to all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, influence and negotiate agreed project outcomes with multiple stakeholders in often complex situations, while working in pre-feasibility and/or feasibility phase(s) of projects 
  • Ability to work autonomously, deal with ambiguity and make clear and decisive decisions to effect successful outcomes 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills is desirable 
  • Subject Matter Expertise in the Water and/or Wastewater sphere

Whilst this role is based at the Head Office in the CBD, SA Water operations cover the state and may require some regional travel throughout South Australia.
