Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our Accounts team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounts payable processes, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to accuracy. This position offers the opportunity to work in an upbeat environment, collaborating with vendors and colleagues to ensure the efficient management of accounts payable.
Responsibilities:
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices related to accounts processes.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations.
- Reconcile bank statements and accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.
- Process invoices and manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Support Accounts Manager in tax preparation and related record keeping.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain vendor records, including contact information, payment terms, and tax documentation.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and address payment-related issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and expense reimbursement guidelines.
- Process/assist with payroll preparation.
- Assist in month-end close activities, including accruals, account reconciliations, and reporting.
- Generate accounts payable and receivable reports and provide analysis as needed for management review.
- Collaborate with HR and finance departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager as required.
Requirements:
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to details
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant further learning (e.g., TAFE or bachelor's degree) is a plus.
