Assistant Chaplain

The Illawarra Grammar School is an independent co-educational P-12 Anglican Grammar School. YOUR NEW ROLE

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Chaplain to join our school in a permanent full time capacity in 2024. 

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Assistant Chaplain will assist the Chaplain in providing for the spiritual formation of students with a focus on teaching Biblical Studies in the Senior School.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Key duties

• Model faithful and authentic Christian discipleship and character
• Teach 7-12 Biblical Studies (and classes in the Junior School as required)
• Exercise a key role in the development and delivery of outstanding Biblical Studies Curriculum K – 12. (The right candidate will be considered for the role of Head of Biblical Studies with associated leadership allowances.)
• Assist with chapel in the Junior and Senior Schools including preparing and delivering chapel talks
• Design discipleship growth opportunities for students
• Help coordinate and run the voluntary co curricular Christian groups in the School
• Provide pastoral care and spiritual counsel to students
• Participate in staff devotions
• Assist in the development of service and mission programs
• Undertake other duties relevant to the position when required as directed by the Principal

Education and Experience       

• Formal theological training (completed or currently undertaking).
• University/Tertiary teaching qualification preferable.  
• Demonstrated teaching experience and ability.
• Active involvement in the life of a local church.
