Click to find out more information about GV Health and our services.Click to find out more from our staff about a career and lifestyle at GV Health.About the Role:The Assistant Medical Clinical Educator (AMCE) reports directly to the Manager Medical Workforce together with Director of Intern Training (DIT) and Director of Prevocational Education & Training (DPET) within the Medical Education team. The Medical Education Unit recognizes the role of GV Health as a medical training institution and part of the clinical education team will seek opportunities for integration of education and training across professional boundaries.The Assistant Medical Clinical Educator will assist in implementing clinical education, simulation, and exam preparation programs, within a multi-disciplinary environment, working supportively with the Medical Workforce and Medical Education Unit, junior medical staff and international medical graduates.Many of the non-vocationally trained junior doctors have graduated from universities overseas and are in the process of seeking registration in Australia. To gain registration in Australia, International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must pass the examination of the Australian Medical Council. These doctors have a service role and require varying levels of supervision depending on their previous training and experience and IMGs may have particular training needs due to differences in health service delivery.The successful candidate will have:
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse or relevant discipline
  • Extensive experience in clinical skill-based practice such as acute, sub-acute, critical care and/or emergency settings
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching clinical skills to medical and/or nursing staff
  • Prior experience in simulation training and program development
  • Awareness and understanding of issues around junior medical staff and international medical graduates
  • Knowledge of adult learning education and its application to clinical settings
  • Demonstrated capacity to work productively as an individual and as a team member within a multi-disciplinary team environment
