Established in 2004, PASO Medical is one of Victoria’s leading integrated provider of Oncology and Haematology services based in Frankston, Victoria. PASO Medical comprises three integrated units: Consulting Suites, Private Same Day Hospital (Infusion Centre) and Clinical Trials Team.
PASO Medical prides itself on having a dedicated purpose-built space for conducting Clinical Trials and an on-site Clinical Trials team who work collaboratively with patients who wish to participate in Clinical Trials. The Role
Recent growth within the Clinical Trials team, has generated the need for a new team member. We are seeking a Clinical Trials Assistant to work within the Clinical Trials Unit. The Clinical Trials Assistant works alongside the Clinical Trials Manager and Clinical Trials Unit. The Clinical Trial Assistant helps oversee projects and duties assigned by the Clinical Trial Manager and/or Clinical Trial Coordinators. They assist in all administrative tasks relevant to clinical trial start-up, conduct, close out and archiving. The Clinical Trial Assistant works alongside the rest of the team, while ensuring assigned duties are completed in a timely, efficient, productive, and organized manner.
Duties Include
- Ensure clinical trial patients are registered, screened and recruited as per PASO Protocol and all aspects of clinical protocols and trials are correctly documented
- Data Entry, Data Management and Preparation, Document Management and Preparation - including but not limited to, protocols, ethics, patient information sheets and source documents
- Support the Clinical Research Manager with site selection and trial budget preparation
- Monitors visitors for Trials
- Identify problems and areas for improvement in trials or projects and recommend / take necessary / steps to overcome identified problems
- Working closely with the Manager, Clinical Research and the Trial Coordinators
- Provide administrative support to the unit
- Ensure all aspects of clinical protocols and trials are properly documented.
- Create, quality-checks, and file all study-related regulatory and paper source documents
- Data Entry
- Administrative support to the Clinical Trial department and the organisation
- Maintain study documents/records and trial supplies
- Participate in meetings and workshops
- Ensure timely ordering of necessary equipment
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, trial sponsor representatives, trial organizers and other relevant personnel.
- Maintain patient, sponsor and departmental confidentiality at all times
- Participate in special projects to continuously improve processes, tools and systems
- Demonstrate understanding and adherence to PASO Values and Good Clinical Practice
- Comply with OH&S legislation and operate in accordance with established OH&S practice and procedures at PASO Medical.
- Promote and contribute to a safe, secure environment for staff and visitors.
- General administration duties
Key Criteria
- BSc. or equivalent degree is preferred
- Relevant experience in a clinical research environment preferred but not mandatory
- A sound level of competency in the use of computers, including Microsoft Office packages
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Robust organisational skills and attention to detail
- Must be results oriented, multi-tasking, quick learner, respond to the urgent needs of the team and show a strong track record of meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality, including the secure storage and handling of confidential information
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in line with changing organisational priorities
This is a full time position but part time applications may be considered
