We are looking for a motivated, empathetic, determined and skilled individual to lead our Reconciliation team, which includes a number of other multi-disciplinary teams within the Aboriginal Justice Transformation Directorate in the Department of Justice’s Strategic Reform Division.
The Strategic Reform Division is responsible for the high-level integration, coordination and oversight of the Department’s reform agenda, including policy and legislative reform, providing strategic advice to government, building collaborative working arrangements within the justice portfolio, the sector and broader community, and ensuring progressive shifts in the Department’s capacity and capability.
This role is responsible for providing leadership to the Reconciliation and Policy Unit, the Aboriginal Mediation Service and Aboriginal Justice Unit in the Aboriginal Justice Transformation Directorate.
This position will be responsible for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop policy responses to emerging Aboriginal issues. The role also supports the Actions, Deliverables and management of secretariat functions related to the Department’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), its Steering Committee and Working Groups and supports the services and outcomes of the Aboriginal Mediation Service and the Aboriginal Justice Open Days. The role will support the development and delivery of culturally appropriate initiatives, programs and services whilst working closely with other business areas, towards the reduction of Aboriginal overrepresentation within justice settings.
Eligibility to Apply
- Holder of a current valid drivers’ license;
- Be able to travel to regional and remote locations on light aircraft and/or by 4WD when required.
