The Data Discovery program is seeking an Assistant Director to co-lead the Data Inventory Pilot Project (DIPP) and work with Australian Government agencies to develop, maintain or enhance their data catalogues.Through the Data Discovery Program the ONDC is supporting Australian Government agencies to better protect and utilise their data assets. The Data Discovery section is also responsible for uplifting data maturity throughout the Australian Government, by educating and guiding agencies on best practice data sharing, including providing advice on the Australian Government Data Catalogue.This is primarily a project management role, requiring great communication and stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and see projects through to successful completion. This role requires applicants to work with minimal supervision, identify solutions to issues and take responsibility for their work.The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with multiple Australian Government agencies
- Working with our contract partners to deliver multiple projects at once
- Promoting the value of participation in the Scheme to Australian Government agencies
- Managing the budget for the DIPP
- Answering queries and providing updates on DIPP internally and for external use
- Providing cross team and internal support to meet the objectives of the ONDC.
The Sharing and DATA Scheme Policy Section is seeking Assistant Directors with proven experience in policy development and coordination or similar legal experience, great communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and an ability to take ownership for work and drive outcomes while managing uncertainty, ambiguity and competing priorities.The Sharing and DATA Scheme Policy Section develops and provides guidance on the operation of the Scheme. The section informs policy, legislative and other developments across the Commonwealth, Australian states and territories, and internationally that intersect with the Scheme and the broader data policy landscape, and advises the National Data Commissioner, Department of Finance leadership and the Minister on those developments and on the operation of the Scheme.The successful candidates will contribute to:
- Developing and providing guidance on the DATA Scheme to external entities and developing internal operating procedures to support the work of ONDC.
- Providing advice and support to ONDC and Department of Finance leadership, and the Minister.
- Identifying and analysing the interactions and interdependencies that occur between existing and proposed policy and legislative developments at a whole-of-government level, and influencing and informing such developments relating to the Scheme.
- Providing policy support to the development of DATA Scheme related legislation (including amendments to the DAT Act, and development of Codes, Regulations, Guidelines and other legislative instruments).
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
