Pedare is a coeducational Anglican and Uniting Church school comprising of Junior (R-5), Middle (Years 6-9) and Senior (Years 10-12) based in Golden Grove. The Opportunity:

The Assistant Head of Junior School - Wellbeing and Administration contributes to the strategic direction of Pedare to ensure its continued success. The successful applicant will provide leadership and vision for the delivery of education of the highest standard and will be committed to the ongoing development and wellbeing of the Junior School students, teachers, and staff.

The Assistant Head of Junior School - Wellbeing and Administration reports directly to the Head of Junior School and is a member of the Junior School Leadership Team. They will participate in the governance of the College through support of the Strategic Plan, the implementation of the strategic priorities and by ensuring that Pedare is effectively, efficiently and responsibly managed. A key aspect to the role is to lead and manage Junior School staff in the pastoral care and student engagement and relationships programs of the Junior School. The successful candidate will be offered the Position of Responsibility for an initial period of 3 years, with a potential further 2 years offered upon role and incumbent review. There is a generous 0.8FTE time release with a teaching load allocation of up to 0.2FTE based on College needs. This role is underpinned with a permanent teaching position.

The role:

  • Lead and manage the Student Engagement and Relationship policy and procedures for the Junior School
  • Train staff in the Student Engagement and Relationships policy and procedures
  • Manage students identified as “at risk” and ensuring that support is provided through the counselling services of the College Chaplain or external agencies
  • Maintain thorough records and reports on students who are managed through the Student Engagement and Relationships Program at the Junior School
  • Lead and manage the Student Leadership Program for the Junior School including the training and induction of student leaders, Community Captains, student representatives on Student Voice Council (SVC)
  • Manage the Daily Operations of the Junior School including Junior School events, timetabling, temporary relief teachers (TRT) and daily coverage of class teachers involved in professional development activities
  • Manage and lead the Events program at the Junior School including Junior School events and One College events
  • Work in partnership with the Deputy Principal R-12 and Assistant Heads of School in Middle and Senior School for all One College events and activities
  • Promote a trusting and caring approach within the classroom
  • Maintain current knowledge of pedagogy and subject disciplines
  • Ability to collaborate with other Pedare staff
  • Ability to relate well to students, recognising both the pastoral and educative aspects of the student-teacher relationship
  • Maintain an interest in the welfare of students and promote the wellbeing of students
  • Some out of hours may be required due to role requirements

What we need:

  • A current South Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) certificate
  • Current Teacher Registration Certificate in South Australia
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate (preferred)
  • Academic Transcripts and Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, Statements of Service

All certificates and qualification(s) must be provided to the College prior to commencement of employment; and the College requires the applicant to disclose any information relevant to their eligibility to engage in activities involving children and young people.
