The service is currently seeking to recruit Assistant in Nurses to their Central Sterilising Department on a casual basis. There are two positions available.We are planning and innovating for the future, advancing healthcare through impactful research, training tomorrow’s health sector workforce.

2 x Casual Positions available / Location: Charters Towers
The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) (Central Sterilising Department) assists and supports Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses in the provision of Central Sterilising services. The AIN works under the supervision and direction of the Enrolled Nurse / Registered Nurse with Certificate III in Sterilising, however, retains accountability for personal actions in fulfilling their role. It is mandatory to have completed the Certificate III in Sterilising.
Casual rates of $44.18 to $45.48 per hour (Nurse Grade 1, Band 2).
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to perform and report on procedures as delegated by the registered nurse.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues and the multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to effectively communicate information verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
- Willingness to undertake education as required by the role.
- Mandatory to have completed Certificate III in Sterilising.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualification for Central Sterilising Department: Successful completion of Certificate III in Sterilisation Services from an approved training organisation based on nationally accredited competencies or equivalent. If qualification has not been completed, the successful applicant will have 12 months to complete the course as a condition of their employment and be appointed at the Nurse Grade 1, Band 1 classification until successful completion of the qualification has been obtained.
- Shift workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
