Job description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This role supports Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force), by ensuring the efficient and effective ongoing operation of the state-wide WA Police Force radio and mobile data communications networks, end user devices and associated communications equipment. Manages and directs technical and administrative personnel, including police staff and contract staff, support contracts and business activities within RES.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than three (3) pages:

  • Management skills - Leading, managing and providing direction, guidance and support to subordinate staff and teams, to efficiently and effectively deliver quality outcomes. Setting priorities to achieve outcomes.
  • Research skills - Undertaking comprehensive research on a broad range of topics and evaluating findings relevant to the scope of the initiative. Contributing and presenting practical solutions to improve functionality and performance.
  • Knowledge of technical systems - Working with a broad range of radio communication network systems, technologies and support practices. Working in a large scale IT based digital voice and data radio environment, covering a significant geographical area. Having an awareness of mobile data and telecommunications infrastructure components, performance characteristics and applications. Providing sound support practices to sustain operations critical infrastructure and radio communications services.

Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
