About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
A unique 12-month fixed term opportunity for a highly skilled Assistant Manager with Data and Information experience. The role plays a critical role within the Data, Performance and Information Management portfolio. The portfolio is responsible for BDMs most important asset, its data.
The role will drive the implementation of strategies, frameworks, and processes to ensure the capture, storage, security, retention, disposal, accessibility, reporting, accuracy and quality of BDMs Data and Information.
You will lead the operational management of a diverse team, supporting the provision of Data and Information management services which enable BDM to meet business, customer and legislative requirements. You will support the team in managing critical external stakeholders, fostering working relationships through strategic communication, ensuring data services are meeting their needs.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
  • Develop Capability: Develops and applies frameworks to expand capability at organisation level. Manages the team and clearly defines role expectations, monitors performance, provides timely and constructive feedback and facilitates employee development. Empowers others by providing them with the authority and latitude to accomplish tasks. Creates learning opportunities and appropriately delegates responsibilities to further the development of others.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Takes into account wider business context within the business unit when options to resolve issues. Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process. Delivers tangible business outcomes as a result of critically evaluating problems from multiple perspectives and delivering effective solutions.
  • Policy Design and Development: Formulates and communicates policy options and recommendations. Develops a clear narrative for policies and business cases including clear problem definition and objectives. Considers impact of policy to strategic plans, community needs, complementing programs and policies across the service.
  • Working Collaboratively: Guides others to create a culture of collaboration. Identifies, and works to overcome barriers to knowledge or information sharing. Identifies opportunities to work with other teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses them to build mutually beneficial partnerships. Identifies and responds to stakeholders underlaying needs. Uses understanding of the stakeholders organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved.
