Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) is the owner of the Brisbane Markets® site in Rocklea and is responsible for its ongoing management and development, supporting Queensland’s horticulture industry.
Brisbane Markets is Queensland’s most important distribution and economic hub for the trade of fresh produce and flowers, with approximately 700 million kilograms of produce through its gates annually worth more than $2 billion.
BML’s Property team is responsible for managing over 270 leases for more than 160 tenants across 40 buildings on the 77 ha site.
The role
This role will suit a candidate who is passionate about property and lease management, who is looking to diversify and grow their experience through the management of a unique leasing portfolio including industrial, retail and commercial leases. You will be an integral feature of a Brisbane icon in a period that continues to see unprecedented property development and expansion. You will apply your exceptional organisational skills and acute attention to detail to support Queensland’s most important trading and distribution hub for the wholesale marketing of fresh fruit and vegetables.
What this role involves
- Implement leasing transactions in accordance with legislative and policy compliance.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful management of the leasing portfolio.
- Prepare documentation in adherence with contract and client specifications.
- Assist clients in obtaining necessary approvals and providing relevant information as required.
- Collaborate with lawyers, lessees and applicants to ensure accurate lease documentation and execution for new leases, renewals, assignments, and similar transactions.
- Manage team engagement and communication for transactions affecting other internal stakeholders.
- Build and develop effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate administrative support to assist with the timely delivery of lease transaction documentation.
- Prepare and submit accurate business cases, transaction analysis and due diligence to support expansion of the leasing portfolio.
- Liaison with lessees and leasing applicant with a customer-focused mindset.
Skills and Experience
- Qualifications or proven experience in commercial property management, real estate, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of lease administration and property management systems and requirements.
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to drive processes to completion, and work to deadlines.
- Excellent administration and computer skills including intermediate or higher levels of MS Word and Excel, Outlook and experience with database management.
- Excellent negotiation skills, and both written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent service within set time frames.
