Assistant Orchard Manager

This full-time position is an exciting opportunity to work at the Almond Board’s cutting edge Experimental Orchard in Loxton, South Australia. The 60-hectare site has been purpose built seven years ago to host research and development projects to improve the production of almonds in Australia. This is a rare chance to be involved in a horticultural research facility that has been described as one of the best of its type in Australia.
A key component of the role is maintaining the orchard to commercial standards to help ensure the integrity of the trials on site.

The position has a range of responsibilities including:
- Assisting the ACE Orchard Manager in day-to-day activities and operations in managing commercial farm aspects of high-level research trials, ensuring the effective application of tree management programs under direction from researchers and commercial partners.
- Supporting the development and ongoing delivery of a reliable and high-level research and development program by accurately collecting data, analysing, and reporting production data and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Assisting the ABA Industry Development Team in communicating research results and practice change to growers and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring that efficient, effective, and safe procedures are developed and implemented for all task types and activities.
- Providing support and advice to ABA staff, ABA sub committees and industry stakeholders
The successful applicant will have the appropriate qualifications and/or experience with a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a practical mindset.
A suitable salary package (starting at $80,000, plus the use of a vehicle) will be negotiated commensurate with qualifications and experience.
